IPL 2022 Schedule: The 15th edition Indian Premier League or IPL 2022 will begin on March 26. Ten teams will compete for the title over two months, with the final match set for May 29. The BCCI has announced the tournament schedule with just three weeks remaining. In the opening match, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the defending champions, will take on the Kolkata Knight Riders.

With the BCCI removing the old format where each team played the other twice during the league stage, the matches will be played in a new format. Based on the number and play of the finals, 10 teams will be divided into A and B.

Group A consists of the Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and the new entrants Lucknow Super Giants. Group B includes the five other teams: Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Punjab Kings as well as new entrants Gujarat Titans.

All league matches to be played in Maharashtra

All league matches in IPL 2022 will take place at four venues, three in Mumbai and one Pune. Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium will host 20 games, while Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium Pune will host 15 matches.

According to the schedule, the first double-header for the season will be played on March 27. This season will see a lot more double-header matches, with two additional teams adding to the mix. The Maharashtra Government also allowed 25% of spectators to all league matches during IPL. The venue for the playoffs is still to be decided. The schedule for the playoffs has yet to be published.
