IPL 2022: Ricky Ponting give update on David Warner and Anrich Nortje availability

IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals faced their first loss of the season Saturday, falling fourteen runs against Gujarat Titans in Pune. With a target of 172 runs, Delhi Capitals did not manage to form a deadly team with Gujarat Titans the GT players Lockie Ferguson Mohammed Shami, and captain Hardik Pandya have taken seven wickets each to claim victory in the MCA Stadium. The victory means that the Titans have moved to third spot, and DC are in fourth place on the IPL table.

The Capitals were missing a few of their overseas stars , including the Australian couple consisting of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh along with the South African player Anrich Nortje, who is one of the major players for the team in the past two seasons. But, DC the head coach Ricky Ponting offered a positive news update for DC fans regarding the availability of three stars from overseas.

Warner has arrived at Mumbai after being resting in preparation for the limited-overs part of Australia's tour to Pakistan and Afghanistan, while Marsh is recuperating from a hip injury.

"Davey (Warner) should be there for the next game and Mitch Marsh for the game after," Ponting declared in the post-game press conference, quoted by Reuters.

"He (Marsh) has picked an abrasive hip tension in Pakistan. We need to do plenty of treatment into him, and also several effective training sessions before he's in the running for selection."

Nortje In contrast, Nortje hasn't been a player since the last Twenty20 World Cup after being disabled with an hip and back injury.

Ponting however, stated that the 28-year-old is back playing nets in his bowls and will play on Thursday's game with IPL newcomers Lucknow Super Giants in Mumbai.

"I think he has to get through another maybe four or five-over spell at 100 percent capacity and then I think if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be right to go," Ponting added.
